Do not let panic make that decision.
You cannot take back a disclosure once it has been made.
The blackmailer wants you to believe exposure is inevitable.
It isn’t.
Before you reveal anything, determine what the blackmailer actually possesses, whom they can really contact, and whether the threat can be contained.
Do not expose your own secret because you fear someone else might do it.
Do Not Rush to Pay
Payment does not guarantee protection.
Once you pay, the blackmailer may demand more.
The first payment proves that your career matters to you, the threat creates fear, and you have access to money.
That makes you valuable.
Your first job is to stall.
Claim you have no available cash and need three days.
The blackmailer may become aggressive. They may repeat the threat, shorten the deadline, or demand proof that you are trying to obtain the money.
Stand your ground.
If they demand a screenshot of your bank account, do not send one. Claim you do not have the banking app on your phone.
Stall.
Then get help.
