When the client contacted me, her first words were, “Someone knows my secret.” That shame can make it harder to ask for help. I have written about how secret relationships and shame become leverage.”
She was afraid to tell me what it was. She was embarrassed and unsure whether she could trust me. That shame can make it harder to ask for help. I have written about how secret relationships and shame become leverage.
I am Frank M. Ahearn, an extreme privacy expert. I have handled blackmail, romance scams, disappearances, and situations that are difficult to put into a category. I do not judge my clients. I work alone, so there is no team of people reading their private messages or learning their secrets.
My expertise is stepping into a person’s life when someone or something threatens to ruin it. That may mean social embarrassment, the end of a marriage, exposure of an affair, or something more dangerous.
When Someone Uses Your Secret to Control You
People get stuck when someone holds information over them and threatens to use it unless they get what they want. It might be compromising photographs, private messages, personal information, or a secret relationship.
Once you give in to a demand, the person may believe they can keep demanding more. No one should have that kind of control over your life.
Before my client explained the secret, she told me about the fear. Every text message or ringing phone made her think it was the person threatening her. She worried that her family would notice a change in her and begin asking questions. I have seen how relationship exposure threats create a fear of losing everything, even before anything has been revealed.
I understand that fear. My clients often feel as though they are standing at the edge of a cliff, about to lose everything they have worked for and the people they love. We begin by talking through what is happening. Then I look for a way forward.
I Took Over the Communication
My client was dealing with an aggressive person from a secret relationship. This person knew enough about her life to cause serious damage if they chose to reveal it.
I stepped in and took control of the communication. I responded as my client, slowed the demands, and directed the conversation where I needed it to go. She no longer had to face every message or decide what to say while frightened.
People who use secrets as leverage expect fear to guide the conversation. They did not know they were communicating with an extreme privacy expert who has spent four decades dealing with threats and protecting identities. My goal was to move the situation toward a resolution and get this person out of my client’s life.
If someone from a private relationship is threatening you, read about my relationship blackmail help. For broader exposure threats, visit my Blackmail Help page. If the problem goes beyond one person and you need to protect more of your identity or life, read about my disappear and privacy work.
You can tell me what is happening, including the part you cannot tell anyone else. I will assess the threat and, when I take on the case, step in to prevent exposure.

About Frank M. Ahearn
I began my career as a skip tracer and social engineer in 1984. I learned how to find people through addresses, businesses, family connections, telephone numbers, and the small details they reveal without thinking.
Later, I reversed that work. I began protecting identities, helping people become difficult to locate, and assisting clients who needed to disappear.
I am the New York Times bestselling author of How to Disappear and the author of books on blackmail, privacy, and personal protection. I am based in Europe and work internationally. Clients work directly with me.
