When blackmail is not about money, you must think about damage control. I am Frank M. Ahearn, the Blackmail Fixer. I have worked over a thousand blackmail cases, and about 99% of the cases I have handled have been money motivated.
But there has been a small percentage where the person wanted to hurt the victim. These have been some of the most devastating cases I have worked.
Even in those situations, I take over the communication. I face the person while the victim deals with what is happening in their personal life.
Some People Want to Cause Damage
Most blackmailers want a payment. These people want to watch you suffer.
I worked a case where the predator got access to a victim’s mobile-phone contacts. Each day, they sent his compromising photographs to one or two people. They eventually sent the photos to ninety contacts.
Another predator sent a man’s photographs to everyone at his wife’s job. It destroyed her career.
These were not simply threats used to collect money. The damage was happening.
You cannot assume that paying, pleading, or finding the right words will make someone like that stop. In the cases I am describing, the person kept causing damage regardless of how the victim tried to handle them.
You Must Deal With What Is Happening
When someone is already sending material, the situation changes. You are dealing with the people receiving it as well as the person distributing it.
My advice is to make the relevant people in your circle aware that someone is digitally stalking and targeting you. That may mean your spouse, a family member, or someone at work.
You do not need to explain your entire private life to everyone. Think about who has been contacted, who may be next, and what they need to know.
Some victims have described the material as AI generated. Whether that explanation fits depends on the content. It is not something to use automatically without considering what was sent.

When Blackmail Is Not About Money
I talk about stalling payment because most of my cases involve someone who wants money.
But if the person’s objective is causing damage, you cannot build the whole response around a payment they do not care about.
I need to understand what they are doing. What have they sent? Who received it? Are they making demands, or simply continuing to hurt you?
Their actions matter more than the explanation they give.
This is why I do not handle every blackmailer the same way. The approach must fit the person you are dealing with.
I Take Over While You Handle Your Life
You may be facing questions from your spouse, calls from relatives, or problems at work. At the same time, the predator is still messaging you.
That is a horrible position to be in.
I move the communication from your contact to one I control. I take over as you and deal with the person directly.
You can focus on the people in your life while I handle the messages and demands. I also look at what information about you remains exposed and what connections can still be protected.

Frank M. Ahearn: I Found People, Then I Disappeared Them
I began as a skip tracer in 1984. My job was finding people who did not want to be found.
I worked with telephone numbers, addresses, employers, relatives, businesses, and the small details people left behind. I learned how one piece of information could lead into someone’s private life.
Then I reversed the work.
I became a disappearance expert. I helped people vanish from the lives of those searching for them. Finding people taught me where to look. Disappearing people taught me what needed to change.
That experience is part of what I bring to blackmail cases. I understand how someone can find your family, connect your private activity to your employment, and use those connections against you.
I am an extreme privacy expert, public speaker, and the New York Times bestselling author of How to Disappear. You deal directly with me. There is no assistant passing your private situation around.

Tell Me What the Person Is Doing
If someone is deliberately causing damage, tell me what has happened—not only what they are threatening.
What did they send? Who received it? What do they know about you? Are they demanding anything?
I cannot undo a photograph someone has already received. I can take over the communication and deal with the person while you handle the damage in your life.
