His email read, “A blackmailer on Adult Friend Finder is threatening me.”
I explained immediately: I am Frank M. Ahearn, a human privacy expert, and I work to prevent blackmail exposure.
When he called me, he was panicking.
He had a secret life no one knew about, and he shared that secret with someone he hoped would become a private connection.
He was wrong.
By the time he contacted me, he was already $5,000 into payments, and the blackmailer wanted more.
He knew paying would not stop the threats. But if his secret became public, it would be a tremendous embarrassment. If his employer discovered it, he believed his job could be over.
I Took Over the Blackmail Threat
We agreed that I would step in, take over the communication, and pose as him.
I gave him a message to send the blackmailer that would move the communication over to me.
Most clients are afraid the blackmailer will refuse to switch.
In my experience, they usually make the switch because they still believe they are going to get paid.
Once the communication moved to me, the client no longer had to deal directly with every threat.
I Immediately Put in a Stall
I began communicating with the Adult Friend Finder blackmailer and immediately stalled.
“I have no more cash and need a few days.”
The threatening messages kept coming.
After roughly thirty aggressive texts, they agreed to wait.
Stalling is one of the first steps I use when dealing with blackmail.
When the deadline approached, I stalled again.
“I could not get the funds, but I will have them in a few more days.”
More threats came.
Again, they agreed to wait.
That became the structure:
Promise the payment.
Break the promise.
Promise again.
The Threats Continued for About a Month
The texting went on for about a month.
It was aggressive.
They continued making threats and expecting payment.
I continued stalling.
Eventually, they faded away and moved on.
The client stopped paying.
The blackmailer stopped controlling his decisions.
