“Should I tell my wife about blackmail?” Countless married clients have asked me that question. The truth is, you have to make that decision yourself. I can help you understand the threat, but I cannot decide what you tell your wife.
I am Frank M. Ahearn, the Blackmail Fixer. I have taken on over a thousand blackmail cases. In my experience, most victims do not face exposure. They face money loss and horrible stress. That stress can make you feel like you must tell your wife immediately, before the blackmailer does.
When I step in, I suggest giving me time to feel the person out before telling anyone about the blackmail. Let me understand what they know, what they want, and where the situation appears to be going.
Does the Blackmailer Have Your Wife’s Contact?
That is the first thing to consider.
Have they shown you her telephone number? Her Facebook account? Her Instagram profile? Have they named her correctly?
There is a difference between saying “I will tell your wife” and showing that they have found her. A threat alone does not answer that question.
If they have her contact information, there is a possibility they could reach her. I need to know exactly what they have shown you. Do not correct a wrong name or supply contact information they are missing.
Are You Deciding, or Is Their Deadline Deciding?
The blackmailer says you have an hour. Now you feel you have an hour to make a decision about your marriage too.
Slow down.
You may decide to tell your wife. But it is a personal decision, and it deserves more thought than a frightened reaction to a text.
Ask yourself what is pushing you to tell her right now. Is it something you have considered, or are you trying to get ahead of a threat because you believe exposure is seconds away?
Tell me what the blackmailer has said. Let me look at the situation before their deadline becomes the reason you make another decision.
Let Me Handle the Blackmailer First
When you hire me, I take over the communication as you. We move the person from your contact to one I control.
I face the messages. I stall the payment demands. I look at what they know about your identity and whom they can reach. When possible, I create disinformation to change what they believe they know.
You step away from the bombardment while I deal with the person behind it.
My suggestion to wait before telling anyone is about giving me time to understand the threat. It does not mean I make the decision about your marriage. That remains yours.

Should I Tell My Wife?
Slow down, and tell me what is happening now.
Explain whether you have paid, made promises, or given them more information since the threats began.
You do not need to defend why you used Grindr, Ashley Madison, contacted an escort, or became involved in a private relationship. I do not judge.
I need to understand the problem you are facing today.
If you are being pushed to pay right now, stall the demand by explaining that you need a few days to borrow the money. Keep it short. Read Free Blackmail Help: What Do I Do Right Now? for more about those first steps.
You Work Directly With Me
I began as a skip tracer who finds people. I found people through telephone numbers, employers, relatives, and the small connections that revealed their lives. Later, I reversed the work and began helping people disappear.
That experience matters when a blackmailer claims to know your family. I understand how information connects and how a private encounter can lead back to a real identity.
I am an extreme privacy expert, public speaker, and the New York Times bestselling author of How to Disappear. There is no assistant passing your private story around. You deal directly with me.
A Book to Help You Think Before You React
My Blackmail Survival Manual: 10 Rules Before You Pay or Panic explains payment stalls, communication, and the pressure blackmailers use.

The Decision Is Yours
Should you tell your wife about blackmail? I cannot answer that for you.
I can help you understand what the blackmailer actually knows and take over the threat while you consider your decision.
Give me time to deal with the person. Give yourself time to think.
