How to Disappear & Extreme Privacy

You Must Define Your Privacy

Privacy no longer exists by default. In a world where information spreads instantly and personal details are constantly recorded, protecting your identity requires deliberate action.

For decades I have worked with individuals who need more than ordinary privacy. Some want to reduce their visibility and regain control over their personal information. Others face situations where a private matter, relationship, or mistake could damage their family, career, or reputation if it becomes public.

Extreme privacy is not always about disappearing. In many cases it is about making sure a sensitive situation remains contained and never grows beyond the moment it occurred.

My role is to help clients control what becomes known about them — now and in the future.

What Extreme Privacy Means

Extreme privacy means different things to different people.

For some, it involves reducing their visibility and controlling what information about them can be discovered online. For others, it means protecting their identity after a personal situation, mistake, or private matter that should never reach the public.

In certain cases, someone may want to step away from parts of their life that expose them to risk. In others, the goal is simply to make sure a sensitive issue never grows beyond the moment it happened.

Extreme privacy is not always about disappearing. It is about control — controlling what can be found, what can be connected, and what remains private.

Every situation is different. The approach is built around the person and the risk they are trying to prevent. Our e-commerce solutions can help you create a seamless online shopping experience for your customers, increasing your sales and revenue.

Who Seeks Extreme Privacy

The people who contact me come from many different situations.

Some are professionals or executives who understand that a private matter could damage their reputation or career if it becomes public. Others are dealing with harassment, stalking, or someone who refuses to leave their life alone. In some cases, people are leaving difficult relationships or situations where maintaining privacy becomes essential.

There are also individuals who simply recognize that the digital world has changed. Information travels quickly, personal details remain searchable, and privacy no longer exists unless it is built deliberately.

For each person, the goal is the same: to regain control over what can be known about them and what remains private.

Books on Disappearance and Privacy

Much of my work on privacy and disappearing is explained in the following books:

How to Disappear
How to Disappear is the New York Times bestselling guide that introduced a global audience to the concept of protecting identity and building privacy in a connected world.

First published in 2011, the book explains how people are found, how personal information spreads, and how individuals can regain control over their visibility.

Written from my experience as a skip tracer who spent years locating people who believed they could not be found, the book reveals the methods used to track individuals and the strategies that make someone far more difficult to locate.

More than a decade later, How to Disappear remains the most recognized book on the subject and continues to serve as the starting point for anyone seeking serious privacy in the digital age.

How to Disappear: AI War Edition – I Am Not Your Data
