Extortion victims face the problem of finding help because there is so much bad and conflicting information online, and it is impossible to know what is correct. One should always consider the source of the information. For example, message board postings by an anonymous person are the worst; you do not know if they are telling the truth or posting for likes. Also, because a tactic that supposedly worked for another does not mean it will work for you; the predator is different.
How to stop a blackmailer begins by knowing how to stall a blackmailer. Stalling the payment demand is the #1 tactic and your only option to prevent image exposure and get the predator out of your life. You cannot block, ignore, wish, pray, or hope the criminal disappears; that is not happening. Even if you contact law enforcement, they will tell you to block. Ignoring and blocking lead to exposure.
I have been stopping personal intrusions and creating extreme privacy for over twenty years. I have dealt with Sugar Daddy Extortion, Ivory Coast threats, Philippines Sextortion, Gay Dating app scams, and everything else under the sun. I can tell you that if you need to back off a threat, you stall their demand.
You are in a situation where a scammer is bombarding you with threatening text messages, showing you they have your spouse's info, social media contacts, and employer. They are wearing you down through fear and using the leverage to make you pay. Your only leverage is not paying. Do refuse, but create an excuse explaining you have no available funds and need 48 hours. The predator will refuse and continue their bombardment, but you must stand strong and stick to the tactic. If you give in and send funds, they return immediately, demanding more. Eventually, most will adhere to a delay.
Getting rid of the blackmailer happens by continuous stalling. It is the only realistic tactic a victim has to prevent exposure. The reason is that sextortion scams are about money, not destroying people. Criminals operate online like businesses; it is about profit; there is no money in exposing victims. If you need help, I can take over as you are and deal with the threat directly.
